I never fail to be fascinated by oystercatchers, I love the ‘peep peeping’ they make as they gather together on the shoreline at the wonderful Holkham Beach. Their markings are so striking and they’re so amusing to watch as they strut about looking for food.
This is original reduction linocut is from a small edition of 17. The reduction method (my favourite technique) uses a single piece of lino to produce a multi-coloured print. The lino is gradually cut away as each layer is printed and the image emerges. Sometimes, only a very small printable area remains for the final, darkest tone. As the block is essentially destroyed during the process, a reduction print can never be reprinted.
Print size 290 x 225mm. Hand printed on Somerset Satin 250g paper using a small relief press. Due to the nature of the printmaking process minor variations can occur between prints, making each one a truly unique piece of artwork.
Each print is numbered, titled and signed at the bottom. This print is shipped unmounted allowing the buyer to choose how to mount the work. The artwork will be shipped flat protected by strong cardboard packaging and sent by tracked mail.
