Description
This print is another in the series ‘Postcards from Norfolk’. The idea came about after I created a postcard-sized print to support the fundraising efforts of a local gallery. It was fun to create such a small reduction print, so I decided to continue along the same theme, although perfecting the colours on the lighthouse meant I went over the three layers that I tried to originally limit myself to, but those tiny red stripes brought the whole print to life. The other postcard print currently available is ‘Sunset on the Fen‘.
The reduction method (my favourite technique) uses a single piece of lino to produce a multi-coloured print. As the block is essentially destroyed during the process, a reduction print can never be reprinted. For example, with this print all that remains of the lino is the small red stripes of the lighthouse. Hand printed on Somerset Satin 250g paper using a small relief press. Due to the nature of the printmaking process minor variations can occur between prints, making each one a truly unique piece of artwork.
This original reduction linocut is from a small edition of 13, sized approximately 6 x 4″ ( 15 x 10cm). Each print is numbered, titled and signed at the bottom. The price includes free UK and international shipping. The print will will shipped flat by 2nd class Royal mail or International Standard mail.
