Description

Holkham beach is the most unspoilt beautiful stretch of sand that I have ever visited. It’s the sort of place that lifts the soul and sweeps away any cobwebs. It’s a treat for dog walkers and birdwatchers alike. The apparent simplicity of this print captures the vast expanse of sand and sky, with the sea way off in the distance.

This original reduction linocut is from a limited edition of 12. The reduction method (my favourite technique) uses a single piece of lino to produce a multi-coloured print. The lino is gradually cut away as each layer is printed and the image emerges. Sometimes, only a very small printable area remains for the final, darkest tone. As the block is essentially destroyed during the process, a reduction print can never be reprinted.

Print size 265 x 175mm. Hand printed on Somerset Satin 250g paper using a small relief press. Due to the nature of the printmaking process minor variations can occur between prints, making each one a truly unique piece of artwork.

Each print is numbered, titled and signed at the bottom, mounted in a neutral colour and sealed in cellophane to keep it clean. The mounted work will fit into a standard 12 x 16″ frame. The artwork will be packaged in a sturdy cardboard envelope and shipped by tracked mail.
