Description

I stumbled upon these three abandoned rowing boats behind Southwold Boating Lake Tearooms. They’d obviously been there a considerable time as reeds were growing in them. This original reduction linocut is from a limited edition of only 10. The reduction method (my favourite technique) uses a single piece of lino to produce a multi-coloured print. The lino is gradually cut away as each layer is printed on top of the previous one and the image gradually emerges. Sometimes, only a very small printable area remains for the final, darkest tone. As the block is essentially destroyed during the process, a reduction print can never be reprinted.

Print size 155 x 150mm, handprinted using a small relief press on Somerset Satin 250gsm paper. Due to the nature of the printmaking process minor variations can occur between prints, making each one a truly unique piece of artwork. Each print is numbered, titled and signed at the bottom. The artwork will be  shipped flat (unframed) protected by strong cardboard packaging and sent by tracked mail.
