Description
To me there’s nothing more eye catching than a field of bright red poppies. Some summers it seems as though the poppies are quite sparse and then the next the wheat fields are ablaze with them. I’ve taken so many photographs of the best ones over the years, but my camera never seems to quite capture how densely they grow. I’m delighted with this print, especially as red and green are quite tricky colours to print.
This original reduction linocut is from a limited edition of only 11. The reduction method (my favourite technique) uses a single piece of lino to produce a multi-coloured print. The lino is gradually cut away as each layer is printed and the image emerges. In this instance it took six-layers to achieve the the final print. As the block is essentially destroyed during the process, a reduction print can never be reprinted
Print size 260 x 175mm, handprinted using a small relief press on Somerset Satin 250gsm paper. Due to the nature of the printmaking process minor variations can occur between prints, making each one a truly unique piece of artwork. Each print is numbered, titled, signed at the bottom and mounted in a neutral colour to fit a standard 12 x 16″ frame. The artwork will be shipped flat protected by strong cardboard packaging and sent by tracked mail.
