Description

I created this print in response to an exhibition that was part of the Black Shuck Festival in Bungay. The brief was to create a piece of art inspired by East Anglian Folklore, so I decided to base mine on accounts of big cat sightings. When we first moved to Suffolk in the mid eighties, the local paper reported on a panther type cat being spotted on Wortham Ling, which was down the road from where we lived. If you’d like to find out more about such sightings then visit, https://bigcatsofsuffolk.com/ .

My print features a domestic cat in the foreground, with two larger ones (possibly ‘big cats’) in the background. If you know the programme Father Ted, you might remember the episode titled, ‘Small or Far Away’, which is what I nearly called this print. It is an original linocut measuring 100 x 230mm. The artwork will be shipped flat (unframed) protected by strong cardboard packaging.
