Description

I pass this gate most days when I’m out walking my dog, Lola. It’s always locked and even Lola often stares in as if she’s wondering, like me, what’s on the other side. It already features in my popular print ‘Secret Garden’ which sold out some time ago.

This original reduction linocut is from a limited edition of 8. I printed the background using the reduction method (my favourite technique) which uses a single piece of lino to produce a multi-coloured print.  The lino is gradually cut away as each layer is printed and the image emerges. As the block is essentially destroyed during the process, a reduction print can never be reprinted. I then printed the gate separately using another piece of lino.

Print size 152 x 203mmmm. Hand printed on Somerset Satin 250g paper using a small relief press. Due to the nature of the printmaking process minor variations can occur between prints, making each one a truly unique piece of artwork. Each print is numbered, titled and signed at the bottom, mounted in a neutral colour and sealed in cellophane to keep it clean. The mounted work will fit into a standard 10 x 12″ frame. The artwork will be packaged in a sturdy cardboard envelope and shipped by tracked mail.
